Tendinopathy refers to pathology of the tendon. This may be wear and tear or an acute flare-up from increase in use of the particular muscle and tendon. Tendinopathy in the foot can be the result of excessive running and exercise without sufficient rest, or may be the result of prolonged wear and tear due to inadequate foot biomechanics.
Signs and Symptoms
• Pain localised to a certain area in or around the foot • Pain in the morning and a feeling of morning stiffness • Pain that starts with exercises, settles as the body warms up, and can return at the end of exercises • As tendinopathy progresses, the pain lasts longer and takes longer time to settle • Pain with identifiable movements or exercises
