Tennis elbow, otherwise known as ‘lateral epicondylalgia,’ is an inflammation in the outside (or lateral) part of the elbow. It often occurs due to tightness and inflammation in the forearm extensor tendons (muscles along the forearm) which attach to that part of the bone.
Signs and Symptoms
• Pain around the outside part of the elbow • Pain radiating into the forearm • Pain with gripping objects • Pain when lifting objects • Pain with functional activities such as opening the lid of a jar, pouring a kettle, turning a door handle • Pain with repetitive activities such as writing, typing or using a mouse
