Lymphoedema and lipoedema occur when the lymphatic system is unable to drain fluid effectively, leading to swelling, heaviness and changes in tissue. While these conditions cannot be cured, symptoms can be effectively managed with the right treatment and education.

Your therapy may include manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, pneumatic compression, oscillation therapy and garment prescription, depending on your individual needs. Education and self-management strategies are a key part of treatment, helping you maintain results and manage your condition outside the clinic.

Kelly works with clients at all stages — from early assessment through to ongoing maintenance — providing personalised, evidence-based care to help you feel more confident managing your condition and maintaining your quality of life.

More on Lymphoedema Therapy

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required to book an appointment. A GP or specialist referral may be helpful for care coordination or private health rebates — please check with your provider.

Can lymphoedema or lipoedema be cured?

These are chronic conditions, but symptoms can be well managed. Therapy focuses on reducing swelling, maintaining skin health and supporting long-term function. Early intervention is important to prevent these conditions from progressing, which can lead to further complications.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on the severity of swelling and your goals. Some clients require an initial intensive phase, followed by maintenance appointments.

Will I need compression garments?

Many clients benefit from compression therapy. As part of your treatment, Kelly will assess, prescribe and educate you on appropriate garments where required.

Who can benefit from lymphoedema therapy?

Lymphoedema Therapy is suitable to treat:

  • Lymphoedema
  • Lipoedema
  • Post operative swelling, including oncology clients who have had lymph nodes removed
  • Post cosmetic procedures e.g. tummy tucks and liposuction.

Is this suitable after cancer treatment?

Yes. Lymphoedema therapy can support swelling related to lymph node surgery or radiation as part of ongoing rehabilitation.

Therapy post cancer treatment would typically involve Complete Decongestive Therapy. This includes hands on manual lymphatic drainage, compression, exercise, skin care and education. Treatment will be tailored to your medical history and stage of recovery.
