As with any health complaint, seeking help from the right practitioners can help you achieve good health as quickly as possible. Mental health is no exception. If you have a pain in your body, you’ll see a physiotherapist. Similarly, if you have any areas of your mental health that are concerning you, we encourage you to see a clinical psychologist as this is their area of expertise. As with any health issue, the earlier you seek treatment, the better, but there’s no better time than now.
Hydrotherapy consists of physiotherapy-prescribed exercises performed in warm water. It is excellent for chronic pain, pre and post-operative rehabilitation, arthritis, whiplash, sports injuries and lower limb rehabilitation. If you experience pain when you move and it is limiting you from exercising, hydrotherapy can be the bridge to get you from where you are, to where you want to be.
Dry needling is an effective and evidence-based technique that can help to reduce muscle tightness and pain. It involves using very fine acupuncture needles, inserted into myofascial trigger points to stimulate the body’s own pain relief system. The acupuncture needle causes a relaxation response to the shortened muscle fibres, which in turn reduces pain and improves mobility and function to the treated area.
Running is actually good for you (when it is done correctly!). If you have sustained an injury from running or get pain when you run, the likely cause is technique or an imbalance in your body that can be corrected. Our running clinic is designed to form part of your treatment to get you back running safely and pain-free, as well as improve your technique in the process and to keep you running well throughout your life.

As women, we can often overlook our own health or believe it is normal to have leakage when we run or laugh! (It’s not by the way!). We have a women’s health physiotherapist who can provide care for more complex conditions and all our practitioners are trained in women’s health. You are important to those around you and it is important you are in good health.
